Cryptids - Wendigo by MonsterKingOfKarmen Cryptids - Wendigo by MonsterKingOfKarmen
This cannibalistic spirit is from native stories
Drawn by the Hungering MonsterKingOfKarmen

Now comes my first entry of the cryptid series that's not a sea serpent. My idea of a Wendigo are very tall and lanky, always devouring yet always starving, and putting pale skin. And consider this a Halloween art.

Just in case, Happy Halloween!

Reminds me of a Dragon Age envy demon. Mostly in the colors. Cool looking cryptid.

Very cool work, descriptions & depictions of Wendigos seem to vary greatly, other than being ravenous forest dwelling beasts. I like its gaping maw and powerful but lanky body, looks like a child's nightmare fuel...Or anyone's really if they ran into it at night O_O

That's a nice depiction of this creature, though to me that's one of the hardest cryptids to figure out  what  the creature looked like. Even with the cryptid descriptions, I still felt stumped.

My best opinion is their true form are more likely formless wraiths.

Like the Boogeyman, then again this creature is Algonquin Native American's Boogeyman.

This is quite a different creature...more different from the original chibi of it as being a head-faced creature. But I like it.

Thanks, it was somewhat hard to draw the head.

Did you base it somewhat off a bat? The face looks quite bat-like . But this is still impressive and I'm curious about what it does. Does it stalk the forest in search of victims which are dragged to its lair?

But very different from the skull-faced deer creature...it certainly looks scary but yet...not as scary.

The nostril was to look like a hole without a nose. The background, typical, a spirit controls a victim turning them into cannibals.

Creepy...but yet it also intriguing. I wonder...maybe they are always starving because they eat too fast. In a historical fiction book about a famous racehorse, there was problems because he would eat his food too fast, he wasn't really getting much out of it. It didn't kill him or hinder them much, but his handlers did everything to try to slow him down.

Maybe it happens for these things, they eat so fast (without choking themselves...maybe the spirits help) that they end up bypassing many nutrients...

logical stuff is always fun to consider...even if these may just be creatures of myth.
